Kumho Tires was founded in 1960, as Samyand Tire, established in Yandgong, Kwanglu City, Korea. In 1963, Kumho manufactured their first compact passenger car tire, and broke Korean record in 1976 by producing over one million tires in a year. Kumho Tire continued to grown, and by 1990, their total output exceeded 100 million tires. In 1992, Kumho Tire earned the ranking of number 10 in the world, for Tire Manufacturers market share. An additional milestone was reached, was the first Kumho Tire run-flat-tire developed in 1999, which was the fourth ever to create a run-flat-tire.
The vision of Kumho is to become one of the top five global tire companies. The management of Kumho Tire is determined to build a "Beautiful Company."
